The Master Cleanse Fast Lemon Juice Cleanse is a great way to clear your body of toxins – and a quick way to lose weight.
As well as ridding the body of toxins and accumulated waste, the master cleanser fast is designed to flush the digestive system, the liver and kidneys and restore balance throughout the whole system. People suffering chronic fatigue and joint pain say it relieves their symptoms. Others say it cleared up their acne.
This 10-day detox has been around for almost 70 years – New York alternative health guru Stanley Burroughs created it in 1941.
The recipe is simple and all natural – no drugs or artificial flavours or preservatives. The recipe for the daily six glasses of liquid you’ll consume for 10 days is 60 ounces of filtered water, 12 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup, 12 tablespoons of organic lemon juice and half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
Burroughs also suggested some unrefined sea salt to make a daily morning drink to flush your system and some daily decaffeinated tea is also recommended.
So . . . no food for 10 days then?
Well, the original master cleanser fast was indeed a liquid-only detox – Which made it a tough proposition. “Day 3″ became notorious as the day many people quit because they were so hungry!
Even those who could finish the 10-day program ran into another dietary issue: once finished they found it tough to eat a decent meal because it felt like their stomachs had shrunk!
However, all those problems are now in the past since author and diet expert Raylen Sterling modified the Burroughs diet to include a light diet.

Day 3 of my video journal documenting my journey through the Master Cleanse detox program. I’m experiencing fewer cravings, due in no small part to a discussion I had with my family asking them for their support at home. I’ve noticed that my cravings go away after I’ve gone to bathroom exactly as Peter Glickman described. I need to find new and healthier ways to spend time with my wife rather than over a meal.
