They want to stay healthy and sexy side by side. The couple is following the Master Cleanse Diet and they are keeping their fans updated through Twitter.
“2nd day of master cleanse and off to hike with hubby and the dogs. 2nd day better than the 1st!”, tweeted Moore.
For Kutcher it is a bit different, “9 hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough.”
Moore says that they’ve started following this cleansing diet in order to live healthier, and not to lose weight. The Master Cleanse diet has also helped Beyonce get in shape for her role in Dreamgirls.
The Master Cleanse, also known as the Lemon Cleanse and the Maple Syrup Diet, is liquid diet created by alternative medicine performer Stanley Burroughs in 1941, and promoted by Peter Glickman in the 1990s.
Burroughs described it as a “detoxification program” and weight loss diet that aids in the removal of allegedly harmful, nonspecific toxins, as well as a cure for ulcers and a general panacea.
There is no scientific evidence that it removes any “toxins”, or that this diet achieves anything beyond temporary weight loss. Though unlikely to be harmful over the short term, it can be harmful over the long term.
Many celebrities seem to be fascinated with this diet. Master Cleanse claims to “dissolve and eliminate toxins”, melt fat “at the rate of 2 pounds a day for most persons- without harmful side effects”, eliminate “colds, flu, asthma, hay fever, sinus and bronchial troubles”, dissolve calcium deposits, and cleanse skin disorders including “boils, abscesses, carbuncles and pimples.”
Users of this diet will lose weight because of severe calorie restriction. It is important to know though that part of this weight loss is also water loss and dehydration due to the laxative effects of the diet. Opponents of this diet say it causes weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
This diet has helped some but could cause serious side effects that you should be aware of.
